‘Explore Engineering and Technology’ Camp (FL)

WHAT: One-week summer enrichment program comprises morning and afternoon sessions about various engineering disciplines: civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, optical and photonics and lasers. Campers participate in experiments using Baker’s engineering labs. On the last day of the camp, each participant gives an oral presentation about a topic covered that week. Awards are presented for the top three presentations.

WHO: Students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2014 who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 7-11

WHERE: Baker College of Flint, 1050 W. Bristol Road, Flint, MI 48507

WHY: The camp is a tremendous opportunity to potentially spark an interest in STEM careers among 20 young adults.

The program is led by Baker College engineering and technology faculty. Undergraduate engineering students help and mentor the campers. 

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the number of STEM jobs to continue to increase and estimates that there will be 274,000 STEM jobs in Michigan in 2018. Sparking an interest at an early age could instill a lasting desire to pursue a career in these fields.

    To access your transcripts, log into the SOLAR System, select the Star System and select the Academic Office. Once there, click on the transcripts link.

    After you enroll, and are accepted to your online program, you sign-up, or "register" for your first courses. Like all Baker Online students, you will begin your online experience with a three-week online class designed to orient you to the Baker Online classroom, and review the expectations and requirements of Baker Online students. When you have completed this course successfully, you can move on to additional online courses.
