After you graduate
The Career Services professionals at Baker work with you to help you find employment in the field of your choice. We can help you develop an employment strategy; coach you on cover letters, resumes, and interviews; and help you make contacts who can help in your job search.

    As a graduate of Baker College, you are eligible for our Lifetime Employment Services, which include:

    • Resume and cover letter assistance
    • Job interview questions

  • What kinds of Work Study positions are available?

    The Work Study program encourages employment in community service and in fields related to your major of study. Job positions can be on-campus or off-campus. Most off-campus positions will be at organizations in the public interest, including private, nonprofit agencies or public agencies.

    Once you accept the Work Study award on your award letter, you will be sent information regarding the steps you should take for securing your Work Study job. Generally, you will have to interview for a position. Check with the Financial Aid office to get a list of available jobs.

  • I am trying to find a job. Where can I go for help with my resume?

    The Career Services staff on your Baker campus would be very happy to help you with your resume. Call us or send an email.

  • How do I apply for the Work Experience Program?

    Applications are available in the Career Services office. Please return the completed application and a copy of your resume to Career Services. After you attend an orientation, the placement procedure will begin. You may not register until you are placed.

Each program we offer has an Advisory Board made up of actual employers, who work with us to develop and continuously update our curricula to ensure that what you learn is in sync with today’s real-world needs. So when you graduate, you’re ready to take on the challenges of your first job, without additional training.

Lifetime Employment Assistance, free and forever

Baker College provides our graduates with Lifetime Employment Assistance. At any point in time, if you need help finding a job, you can call on Career Services at your Baker campus. We will help with resume preparation, cover letters, referrals, resources, and more.

Graduation Application

All students who anticipate successful completion of their program course requirements for a degree or certificate must complete the Graduation Application one quarter prior to their graduation date in order to officially graduate.

Career / Jobs Fairs

Career and Job Fairs give you a chance to network, explore job openings, and talk with representatives from many different companies and organizations. 

Tips to help you make the most of Career and Job Fairs

  • Take time to prepare in advance. Make a list of the companies you want to visit and prioritize it.  
  • Research each company you plan to visit.
  • Prepare a list of questions you want to ask. 
  • Think about questions employers may ask you, and how you would respond.  
  • Take some time to develop and practice a short introduction of yourself that includes your skills, experience, and career goals. 
  • When you go to the career/job fair, bring copies of your resume. Be sure to get contact information from the people you speak with so that you can follow up.

Work Experience

At Baker College, work experience is part of your curriculum, providing you with real-world experience directly related to your academic major. Through work experience, you have the opportunity to apply classroom theory to actual work situations, so that upon graduation you’ll be prepared to meet the demands of the workplace, without additional training. 

Through these work experience programs, employers have an opportunity to identify and select students with the specific abilities and talents that meet their organization’s needs.
