When you study dental skills and practices at Baker College, you learn from working professionals whose outside experience brings a deeper dimension to your studies. Your training includes classroom, lab, and clinic learning experiences as well as off-site externships where you apply your training in a real-world setting.
As a Baker graduate, you will have all the knowledge and hands-on training you need to assist at chairside in patient care and to perform laboratory procedures working under the direction and supervision of a dentist. Plus, you will be fully prepared to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exams to become a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).

- Dental Assistant is one of today’s fastest growing occupations. By 2016, employment is expected to grow 29 percent, much faster than other occupations.
- Benefits vary widely, depending on the dental practice. The American Dental Association indicates that about 87% of dentists offer their Assistants reimbursement for continuing education courses.
- About half of Dental Assistants have a 35- to 40-hour work week. Others work part-time or variable schedules.
