Diesel Technician
Diesel engines have become the standard for powering trucks, transportation, and heavy equipment. Maintaining and repairing today’s complex engines, which incorporate microprocessors and electronic components to control operation and increase efficiency, requires skill and experience. In Michigan, you need certification to work as a Diesel Technician, so good training is essential.
The Baker Diesel Engine Technology program is the only over-the-road program in Michigan. In your core classes you learn the fundamentals of servicing medium- and heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles—electrical systems, engines, preventive maintenance, brakes, and suspensions. You also choose areas for further study, such as heavy-duty drivetrains or heavy-duty heating and air conditioning. Plus, in our state-of-the-art facility, you apply everything you learn so you are fully prepared for your certification exams.
