Today’s businesses rely on complex electronics to operate and control a wide range of equipment and technologies. When you study Electronic Technology at Baker, you take the first step toward becoming an Electronics Engineer. You learn how to work closely with engineers and how to apply electronics principles and theory in real-world situations.
In Baker’s Electronic Technology Program, you study with industry professionals who share their experience and teach you how to install, maintain, repair, diagnose, and troubleshoot electronic devices, especially in the fast-growing digital/microprocessor area. You get hands-on training in many different areas — biomedical equipment, avionics, marine equipment, communications. and consumer electronics — which is good preparation for an entry-level position in the electronics engineering field.

- The average annual salary for Electronic Technicians is $48,200.
- Employment for Electronic Technicians overall is expected to grow by about 3 percent through 2016, which is slower than average. For Electronic Technicians who work with commercial and industrial equipment, growth is expected at 7 percent, which is about as fast as average.
- Experienced Technicians with advanced training may become specialists or troubleshooters and help others diagnose difficult problems.
