High School Teacher
At the high school level, students are ready to go into depth in the subjects they studied in elementary school. You usually teach one subject. It may be academic, such as English, math, history, art, or science; or career-oriented like business, auto repair, or technology. You may also work with colleagues to develop new learning methods or materials or organize extracurricular activities. Your job also involves working with parents, parent groups, and community and governmental agencies.
When you pursue a degree in Secondary Education at Baker, you not only master the subject you would like to teach; you also study teaching methods, so that you know how to teach. We help you learn methods that can get students interested and spur their thinking and imagination. As a Baker graduate, you are eligible for state testing and certification.
