Preschool Teacher

Preschool Teacher

If you enjoy being with young children, aged 3 to 5, a career as a Preschool Teacher gives you the opportunity to help them learn new skills and enjoy the process of learning. As a Preschool Teacher, you plan a curriculum and then put it into practice, using a variety of educational tools and methods to help the children learn new language, mathematical, and motor skills, and encourage their social and emotional development.

While each preschool curriculum is unique, programs are set up in two ways: either you work alone with your class, or you work as part of a teaching team, which gives you more one-on-one time with the children. You develop both small and large group activities as well as one-on-one instruction that takes advantage of a variety of tools and media to make learning fun — music, games, stories and poems, artwork, dancing, and more. In addition to teaching and motivating your students, you also work with other teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.

At Baker, you’ll learn how to plan, develop, and organize a preschool curriculum. Through classes led by experienced preschool teachers, combined with hands-on training in the field, you’ll gain all the knowledge, skills, and experience you need to help children grow and develop physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
