Sonographers use special equipment to direct high frequency sound waves into the patient’s body, which generates an image that is captured and used by the physician to assess and diagnose medical conditions. You apply your knowledge of anatomy and physiology to capture images of specific areas of the patient’s body, and select the images to store and show the physician. In addition to working directly with patients, you keep patient records and adjust and maintain equipment.

Through Baker’s small class sizes and hands-on training, you’ll gain the all the knowledge, critical thinking, and technical skills to take measurements, calculate values, analyze results, and prepare preliminary findings for physicians. After you graduate, you will be eligible to apply for the certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
