Web-based Professional Development for New Faculty
New faculty are required to complete the following Web-based professional development (PD) sessions:

  • Anatomy of a Syllabus
  • Baker and Our Students
  • Instructional Technology (IT) Overview
Before beginning a session, make sure you have a high speed Internet connection and speakers. For optimal viewing, a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is strongly recommended. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view these presentations. Upon completion of the last section/session of each PD, you will need to confirm your results, and enter your Baker User ID and Baker e-mail address. You can print your certification via the “print your certificate” link, and your certificate will also be e-mailed to your Baker e-mail address.

Anatomy of a Syllabus
This session (approximately 30 min.) explains how to develop your course syllabus.

Baker and Our Students
This two-part session (approximately 55 min. total) explains the Baker College student population, working with adult learners, and available resources.

Instructional Technology (IT) Overview (approximately 75 min. total)
This series of web-based session explains the Baker College computer technology, including where to find course resources, submitting attendance and grades, etc. The 's running time is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes.
