Types of Grant Aid
There are several types of grant aid available to Baker College students. Grants are not repaid.
Jewell Educational Fund
The Jewell Educational Fund, an institutional
grant provided by the Baker College System,
will be awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial
need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
For the 2004-05 academic year, an estimated $1,000,000 will be
made available to assist Baker College students. The amount a student
may receive will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Federal Pell Grants (Undergraduate Students Only)
Currently up to $4,050
The amount of the Federal Pell Grant is based
on the family’s
financial strength and the cost of education
at the college the student will attend. Grants may range from $400 to $4,050
per academic year (9 months). Eligibility for the grant is based on financial
need, as demonstrated by completion of the FAFSA.
Federal Supplemental Educational
Opportunity Grants (Undergraduate Students
Only)
Currently up to $4,000
The Federally-funded
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
may be awarded by colleges to undergraduate
students whose financial aid applications demonstrate
need. The maximum grant allowed for a student
is $4,000 per academic year. Eligibility for
the grant is based on financial need, as demonstrated
by completion of the FAFSA.
Michigan Tuition Grant (Michigan Residency Required)
Amount announced by state
Students attending at least half-time may be
eligible to receive a grant from the State of
Michigan . Eligibility for this grant is based
on financial need, as demonstrated by completion
of the FAFSA. Students must complete the State
of Michigan questions on the FAFSA to receive
grant consideration. The Michigan Tuition Grant
applies only to independent colleges, such as
Baker College . The amount of funds available
is announced annually by the state.
Michigan Adult
Part-Time Grant Program (Undergraduate
Michigan Residents Only)
Currently up to $600
The Michigan Adult Part-Time
Grant Program is designed to provide grant
assistance for needy adults who enroll at approved public
or private degree-granting Michigan colleges on a part-time
basis. Grants up to $600 per year are available for not
more than two years of study. Eligibility for the grant
is based on financial need, as demonstrated by completion
of the FAFSA.
