Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
This comprehensive program, developed by the National Association of EMTs, prepares basic or advanced life support providers to care for patients suffering serious traumatic injuries. Students are taught to rapidly assess patients, prioritize care, and deliver life-saving measures quickly and efficiently.

Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator II - Ambulance
This National Safety Council training program includes both classroom and actual, hands-on ambulance driver training to prepare students to safely maneuver emergency vehicles. Safety is the primary message, with low-speed cornering and backing techniques emphasized to prevent common ambulance crashes. Michigan-specific vehicle laws are discussed, as is appropriate use of warning equipment and vehicle characteristics. Baker College training ambulances are used for skill practice. This program is offered as a value-added feature in the Baker College EMT program or separately for emergency service agencies statewide.

Violent Patient Management
This program is designed for EMS personnel, nurses, physicians, and other allied health professionals to understand the legal, medical, and tactical considerations of controlling violent patient behavior. Baker College provides a low-stress environment in which experienced faculty guide students to success through realistic scenarios in physical control of combative patients. Successful completion of the standardized written and practical examinations earn graduates nationally recognized 2 year certification in Pressure Point Control Tactics.

EMT Refresher
These programs can be used as either a 24 hour EMT refresher course or 30 hours of continuing education to meet NREMT renewal requirements. Courses include re-certification training in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers under American Heart Association criteria. Classes are formatted as a low-stress educational experience designed to refresh existing knowledge and introduce new information as appropriate. Medical First Responders can use these courses to meet their CE requirements as well.

Paramedic Refresher
These programs can be used as either a 4 hour paramedic refresher course to help meet NREMT renewal requirements or as all 45 hours of required CE to meet the State of Michigan licensure renewal requirements. Classes are formatted as a low-stress educational experience designed to refresh existing knowledge and introduce new information as appropriate.
