Course Objectives: Departmental Web Page Workshop
Creating a departmental web page can be richly rewarding for both faculty and students. It does, however, require considerable cooperation and effort in communication.
Departmental web pages are subject to approval by the Web Technical Committee at the Baker College System office. A department head may wish to contact Randi Goss at randi@baker.edu or Nichole Williams at nichole@baker.edu before beginning to design a departmental web page.
The departmental web page workshop would cover the following subjects:
- Define the department for the purpose of developing the departmental page.
- Define the purpose of a departmental web page, and list criteria for determining acceptable submissions.
- Brainstorm the kinds of items you would publish on such a page.
- Narrow your list of items to publish to a realistic size.
- Determine who will actually create the page, and if it is faculty members, the software program to use.
- Have the designers of the departmental page develop file specifications for submissions.
- Develop a plan for maintaining the departmental page, and assign responsibility for the maintenance.
