Michael Heberling, Ph.D.
President, Center for Graduate Studies
Michael Heberling has been president of the Baker College Center for Graduate Studies since June, 1998. He is responsible for the oversight and quality of the school's operations as well as the development of new academic programs. Today, there are over 1,000 students in Baker's three graduate programs: MS in Information Systems, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Occupational Therapy. Before coming to Baker, Dr. Heberling was a Senior Policy and Business Analyst for four years with the Anteon Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. He is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with over 1,500 hours flying time in the B-52 bomber. His last Air Force assignment was as the chair of the graduate acquisition management department at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB. His education includes a B.S. degree from Cornell University, an M.S. degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and a PhD from Michigan State University in Production and Operations Management. His publications include 13 refereed journal articles, four books and book chapters, 21 conference proceedings, plus 26 magazine and trade articles.
John Vinton, PhD
Dean, Doctoral Studies
Over a thirty-year academic career, Dr. Vinton has held leadership and teaching positions at the University of Southern California, Hamline University, Metropolitan State University, Walden University and Baker College. Recently, he has been interested in creating new programs for mid-career working adults who seek graduate and undergraduate degrees in Management and Business through distance education, and creating learning networks and virtual communities. He has also created several international partnerships with institutions in Mexico, Latin America, and Europe.

Dr. Vinton received his BA degree in Economics from Carleton College, an MA degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD degree in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University.

Peggy Houghton, PhD
Professor, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Houghton most recently has served as the Chair of Leadership Studies in the Center for Graduate Studies and is the former Dean of Business Administration for the Auburn Hills Campus of Baker College. On September 01, 2007, she was appointed as a full-time faculty member to the new Doctor of Business Administration program. Dr. Houghton received her bachelor's degree from Oakland University in Marketing, a master's degree in Administration from Central Michigan University, and her Ph.D. in Management from Walden University.
James A. Stahley, PhD
Professor, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Stahley has proven leadership and accomplishments in academia, business, international business, engineering, and defense and commercial systems. As senior Quality Official and Vice President, he held key executive, profit and loss, and engineering positions including Vice President of Engineering for a $6 billion computer company. Dr. Stahley is an acknowledged expert in total quality, business excellence, leadership, and organizational change. He is a past senior examiner and judge for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, certified internal auditor for ISO 9000, and Master Black Belt in Six Sigma. Dr. Stahley is an experienced speaker and presenter to audiences, worldwide. Dr. Stahley has also held academic leadership positions at Walden University, where he served as the Associate Dean and Chair of Doctoral Programs for the School of Management.

Dr. Stahley received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth, an MS degree in Engineering from the University of Alabama - Huntsville, and a PhD degree in Management from Walden University.

John Hannon , DBA
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Through his over forty year professional academic career, Dr. Hannon has held leadership positions in both the private and public sectors. In his professional career Dr. Hannon served as Project Engineer, designing and monitoring installation of materials handling systems/contracts worldwide for the US Air Force Logistics Command Headquarters at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio.

During his three decade plus academic career he has worked as teacher and administrator at both the graduate and undergraduate management levels for South University, Nova Southeastern University, Florida Institute of Technology, and Towson University. While serving as professor at these institutions he developed Internet-based content, DOD and commerce partnerships, created new programs for working adults seeking graduate and undergraduate degrees in Management and Business.

Recently, Dr. Hannon served on the Board of Advisors of Cooper College and sits on the Board of Directors at Florida's Bayhill Estates. He is also an active partner in the corporate consulting firm of BH&H, which focuses on promoting efficiency, quality, and corporate innovation in operations management through the use of computer mediated communication, electronic group support systems, and executive information systems.

Dr. John Hannon earned his Doctor of Business Administration, D.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration, M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, B.I.E. from the University of Dayton.

Robert Aubey, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Aubey is Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin - Madison Graduate School of Business where he chaired the International Business Department and Directed the University of Wisconsin's Center for International Business Research. The focus of Dr. Aubey's research and scholarly activity has been on international business and finance, particularly in Latin America.

Danielle Babb, PhD

Dr. Babb has extensive experience as an online educator and practitioner in Information Technology. Helen Bojarczyk, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Helen Bojarczyk has over 20 years of teaching experience in the corporate environment as well as within academia at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her areas of concentration and expertise include courses within Business Administration and Human Resources Management areas. The combination of practical business knowledge and higher education experience provides the foundation for her teaching strategies. Dr. Bojarczyk has been teaching for Baker College for approximately 14 years. Recently, her teaching assignments included presenting Professional Development sessions to newly hired adjunct faculty in order to share her real-world classroom expertise.

Dr. Bojarczyk received her BS degree in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University, an MA degree in Education, with a concentration in Instruction, also from Central Michigan University, and a PhD degree in Education: Educational Leadership, Higher Education cognate, from Oakland University.

John L. Craddock, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Craddock has over 35 years of international business experience in the areas of hospitality, international and national tourism industry development and soft drink bottling and distribution.He has served as a senior corporate officer in both domestic and international lodging companies and worked in over 70 nations including a many-year stint in the former USSR, now the Russian Federation, and China. He served as the co-owner, President and C.O.O. of the largest Pepsi Cola franchise in Eastern Europe. In that role he successfully negotiated 4 joint venture bottling plant acquisitions, and 16 distribution locations in a territory of 23 million customers spanning a 2.5 million square kilometer market area. In addition to his considerable business experience, Dr. Craddock has held full and part-time teaching positions at several universities, and has over 15 years of experience in online education. He earned his MBA from the Presidential/Key Executive program at Pepperdine University and his doctorate from Walden University.

Bernice "Bernie" Folz, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Folz recently retired as the Director of Graduate Programs in Software at St. Thomas University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She has extensive academic and professional experience in software development having taught at several institutions in addition to St. Thomas and having worked as a software development manager for Unisys. She has chaired over 25 completed dissertations and has expertise in quantitative research design and scientific methodology.
Gary Gemmill, PhD

Dr. Gemmill is Professor Emeritus of Organizational Behavior at Syracuse University. Dr. Gemmill is an expert in leadership and group dynamics having published extensively and consulted in these fields.

Lilburn Hoehn, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Hoehn is Professor Emeritus at Wright State University where he served as Director of Advanced Graduate Studies and Director of Faculty Development among other roles. He is an expert in research design and curriculum development and has consulted extensively in areas such as team building and performance appraisal. He has chaired over 75 dissertation committees.

Charles W. Johnston, PhD

Dr. Johnston currently serves as Chair of the Economics and Finance Department and has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in economics and finance at several other institutions including the University of Michigan - Flint and the University of Texas - Austin.

Stephanie Lyncheski, DM
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Lyncheski has owned and managed her own communications business, Blue Gecko Communications. She has worked for advertising and public relations agencies, done editing and proofreading for publishers, and has written several magazine articles. She has extensive teaching experience in subjects including Career Development, Media and Business Writing, English Composition and Research, Interpersonal Communications, Speech Communications, Ethics, Critical Thinking, Psychology, and Leadership.
Ruth Maurer, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Maurer is Professor Emerita of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the Colorado School of Mines. She has supervised over 100 dissertations and has expertise in research design and statistical methods. She has consulted extensively in energy economics and has taught at a number of institutions other than the Colorado School of Mines, including the United States Military Academy.

Dr. Tippens is a well-published scholar and a recognized expert in risk management. His honors include Risk Management and Insurance Review best Perspectives article, 2006; CEBS Fellow   2004 to 2006; Researcher of the Year, 2003, Roosevelt University College of Business; North American Editor of "Risk Management: An International Journal" 2003 to 2005; and Visiting Scholar, University of Washington, Seattle, WA 1996.
Anthony (Tony) B. Leisner, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Leisner has been a business owner, and international business consultant, investor, and faculty member at 4 universities serving widely diverse student bodies. He has a strong commitment to giving back and serves on several nonprofit boards. He is incoming board chair of a $36 million annual budget Florida Workforce board engaged in job creations and employment training. Dr. Leisner earned his MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, spent 10 years on their faculty, and has co-authored with Philip Kotler. His doctorate is from Walden University where he has served on 15 dissertation committees including an award winning best of the year dissertation.

Ann Voorheis, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Ann Voorheis, Dean of Developmental Education for the Online campus, has worked for Baker College for over 15 years with a variety of roles like counselor, instructor, and Associate Dean of General Education. Ann has a Bachelor degree in Education from Michigan State University and two Masters Degrees one in Counseling from Oakland University and the other in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University. Ann received her PhD in Educational Leadership from Oakland University with a dual cognate in Higher Education and Counseling. In addition to her experience in higher education, she worked for 10 years in business and industry for Palace Sports and Entertainment and the Detroit Institute of Arts.

As Dean of Developmental Education, Ann manages the pre college level courses and works with students to assist them in their college success. She also oversees the new student online orientations and the online tutoring program for undergraduate college students.

Susan Cathcart, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies
Dr. Susan Cathcart currently holds the position of Vice President of Academics at Baker College in Auburn Hills, MI. She has been in the position since June 2008. Prior to that position, she was Vice President of Academics at Baker College of Allen Park, the Dean of Business Administration at the Auburn Hills campus and an adjunct faculty member at the Auburn Hills campus. For seventeen years and prior to joining Baker College as a full time employee in 1999, she was an Administrator of a Psychiatric Clinic. Dr. Cathcart earned a Bachelor degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. She received her Master's degree in Management from Walsh College and her PhD from Capella University in Organization and Management with a specialization in Human Resource Management.
James Skertich, DBA
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Jim Skertich has over 15 years of teaching experience in academia at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His areas of concentration and expertise include courses within Business Administration, International Business and International Marketing. The combination of practical business knowledge and higher education experience provides the foundation for his teaching strategies. Dr. Skertich has been teaching for Baker College for approximately 15 years. He has taught at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. He has taught and developed undergraduate and graduate marketing courses for several universities. Dr. Skertich spent over 16 years in the retail jewelry industry supervising up to 52 stores with the Zale Corporation and 14 years as president and owner of Penasquitos Jewelers.

Dr. Skertich received his BS degree in Business Administration from Indiana University - Northwest Campus, an MA in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and a DBA degree in Business Administration with concentration in International Business/International Marketing from United States International University (now known as Alliant University).

Jill Langen, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Langen has over 19 years experience in higher education. Her 15 years of teaching experience have focused on business education, and include both on ground and online courses, as well as undergraduate and graduate education. Prior to her role as Dean of the MBA program for Baker College Center for Graduate Studies, she was the Department Chair for Marketing and HR Management at Baker College of Auburn Hills. Her leadership role within the MBA program centers on faculty development, program accreditation, curriculum standards and academic assessment.

Dr. Langen earned her BBA in Marketing from Michigan Technological University, an MBA in Materials and Logistics Management from Michigan State University, and a PhD in Educational Leadership from Oakland University. Her areas of research interest focus on faculty evaluation and mentoring.

Mary Dereshiwsky, DBA
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Dereshiwsky has been developing and teaching graduate-level online courses in research methods, quantitative and qualitative analysis since 1994. She has authored or co-authored over 50 publications and presentations in various aspects of online instruction and learning. Dr. Dereshiwsky also serves as Chair of the international Faculty Club, a consortium of higher education faculty, for the Learning Resources Network (LERN). She holds the Certified Online Instructor (COI) certification through LERN. In addition, she is associate editor of the eJournal for the eLearning Institute. Dr. Dereshiwsky received her bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University in education with mathematics concentration; her master's degree in accounting from the University of New Haven; and her doctorate in Business Administration with concentrations in quantitative methods and accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Branford J. McAllister, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. McAllister has 35 years of leadership and management experience in the military, in business, and in education. He is currently the director of the Developmental Test Support Department for Jacobs Engineering at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, providing engineering support to the Air Force in their weapons test mission. He spent a full career in the Air Force, as an F-15 pilot in a number of operational, command, and staff assignments in a variety of stateside and overseas locations. He also served as the Air Force Chief of Staff chair on the faculty at the National War College in Washington, DC, and has several years of experience instructing and mentoring doctoral students in the field of management.

Dr. McAllister earned a BS in mathematics/operations research from the US Air Force Academy; an MA in history from the University of Alabama; an MEA in engineering administration from George Washington University; and a PhD in management from Walden University.

Mitchell Franklin, PhD
Faculty, Doctoral Studies

Dr. Franklin currently holds an academic appointment in Accounting at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University where he has received recognition for his teaching including the Whitman School of Management Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year (2005-2006). His research interests include Corporate Finance and Financial Planning.

Dr. Franklin received his BS degree in Accounting from the, Syracuse University, an MS degree in Accounting from the Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University, and a PhD degree in Accounting from Walden University. Dr. Franklin is also a certified public accountant in the State of New York.
