Baker College of Auburn Hills officials report that all 23 students from the first-ever dental hygiene associate degree program graduating class have passed the National Dental Hygiene Examination. The graduates also scored above the national mean in 12 out of 13 testing categories.

“A ‘perfect score’ by our first dental hygiene graduating class is a wonderful accomplishment,” said Jeff Love, Baker College of Auburn Hills president. “These outstanding results demonstrate a high level of commitment by our students, faculty and staff. Sincere congratulations to everyone.”

The Baker College of Auburn Hills dental hygiene program graduates must also pass a regional examination before obtaining a dental hygienist license, a requirement for employment. After passing this exam, the graduate is allowed to practice the profession of dental hygiene in Michigan and several other states in the northeast region of the United States.

Baker’s dental hygienist graduates may find employment as clinicians, educators, researchers, administrators, managers, consumer advocates, sales managers and consultants. They may work in a variety of health care settings, including private dental offices, schools, public health clinics, hospitals, correctional institutions or nursing homes.
