Free event helps parents complete financial aid forms on time
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Baker College of Auburn Hills will host College Goal Sunday, Feb. 9, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., 1500 University Drive, Auburn Hills. The free event helps parents of college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on time.

On College Goal Sunday at Baker College of Auburn Hills, student financial aid experts will be available to guide attendees through each step of completing and filing the FAFSA.

Students under 23 years of age are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian. Parents and students should bring their completed 2013 Federal tax returns (1040), if possible, or their W-2 and 1099 forms.

Students who attend the event will have the opportunity to compete for College Goal Sunday prizes such as a $1,000 scholarship to the school of their choice, an iPad mini and a $25 Amazon gift card.

The FAFSA is required of any student seeking financial aid including grants, loans and many scholarships. Last year, more than 1,000 students received assistance at College Goal Sunday events.

College Goal Sunday is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Department of Education, the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide. The program was created to increase the number of students who continue education beyond high school and earn post-secondary degrees.
