Baker College of Cadillac Hosts ‘MI College Goal’ Feb. 9

February 04, 2014

CADILLAC, Mich. – Baker College of Cadillac will host MI College Goal, 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Academic Resource Center at Baker College of Cadillac, 9600 E. 13th St. Registration is not required.

The free event helps college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 deadline. Statistics show that students who complete and submit FAFSA forms are more likely to go to college.

At the MI College Goal event at Baker College of Cadillac, student financial aid experts will be available to guide attendees through each step of completing and filing the FAFSA. Students under 23 years of age are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian. Campus tours will also be available.

If possible, parents and students should bring their completed 2013 federal tax returns (1040) or their W-2 and 1099 forms.

Students who attend the event will have the opportunity to compete for MI College Goal prizes such as a $1,000 scholarship to the school of their choice, an iPad mini and a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

MI College Goal is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Department of Education, the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and EduGuide. The program was created to increase the number of students who continue education beyond high school and earn post-secondary degrees. The FAFSA is required of any student seeking financial aid including grants, loans, and many scholarships. Last year, more than 1,000 students received assistance at MI College Goal events.
