Baker College of Clinton Township Appoints L. Treanor As Vice President for Academics

Baker College of Clinton Township officials have appointed Dr. Laura J. Treanor as Vice President for Academics. She is responsible for leading and overseeing the academic and support service operation of the campus, establishing and promoting the vision and direction of the academic unit, serving as an advocate for quality academics at the campus and Baker College System level, and providing support, assistance, guidance and mentoring to individual members of the academic department.

“Laura’s extensive academic experience and in-depth knowledge of the Baker College system makes her the ideal choice for this position,” said Donald R. Torline, Baker College of Clinton Township President. “We are thrilled that she is now an integral part of our campus.”

Treanor’s affiliation with Baker College began six years ago at Baker College of Port Huron, where she was dean, Chief Academic Officer and, most recently, Vice President of Academics. She has more than 25 years of higher education experience, having taught at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels at a number of colleges and universities. These included: Virginia Tech University, West Virginia University, Barton College and Roanoke College.

Treanor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Virginia Tech University, a Master’s Degree in Pedagogy from Ohio State University, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech University. She is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).

A resident of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Treanor is an accomplished speaker on teaching effectiveness and has had articles published in various professional periodicals.
