Baker College of Clinton Township Awards Ed Kurtz Scholarship to Jennifer Bishop

Baker College of Clinton Township officials have announced Jennifer Bishop as the recipient of the 2012 Ed Kurtz Leadership Scholarship award. Bishop received a $2,500 scholarship that is awarded to a Baker College student who demonstrates academic achievement and either a commitment to community service or a successful balance of work, family and school obligations.

“Jennifer has maintained an outstanding scholastic record while working full time and volunteering for several church activities,” said Donald R. Torline, Baker College of Clinton Township President. “We are very pleased to present the 2012 Ed Kurtz scholarship to Jennifer this year.”

Bishop, a single mother of a 14-year-old daughter, works full time as an administrative assistant for the Macomb Christian Schools. In addition, she serves in the worship ministry at Bethany Baptist Church, is a soloist in the choir, volunteers in the library and is the Bible school secretary every Sunday morning before church services.

A Clinton Township resident, Bishop is working toward a bachelor’s degree in business administration – accelerated program, and currently maintains a 3.57 Grade Point Average (GPA). She plans to graduate winter 2013.
