Baker College of Flint Invites Public to Help Santa “Stuff the Truck”

December 04, 2009

Baker College of Flint is inviting the public to come out and help Santa “stuff the truck” at its Center for Transportation Technology (CTT) division, Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CTT is located at 1717 S. Dort Highway. All donations will benefit Toys for Tots and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

“Each year Toys for Tots helps thousands of families in need in Genesee County,” said Kim Root, Baker College of Flint administrative assistant and chair of the December 12 event. “Along with Davis Cartage Company and Causley Trucking, Baker College is pleased to contribute to the effort to help ensure that no child goes without a toy this Christmas.”
The list of requested items includes unwrapped toys and new clothing for children of all ages. Coats and gloves are especially needed.

“In addition to toys and children’s clothing, we are also collecting non-perishable food items and accepting cash donations for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan,” said Root. “Since 1981, their mission has been to eradicate hunger in the community. Every year the organization provides more than 17 million pounds of food to people in need in 22 Michigan counties.”

All participants who help Santa “stuff the truck” are invited to bring a camera and visit the decorated CTT lobby.

“Our building is lavishly adorned with more than 30 trees, an abundance of lights and many of our friends from the woods,” said Root. “It will be a fun and worthwhile event.”
