Baker College of Owosso Hosts BPA Regional Leadership Conference

Baker College of Owosso will host the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) on its campus on Friday, January 8, 2010. Approximately 430 area high school BPA student members will participate in the event, competing for regional awards in 54 categories under four primary classifications, including financial services, administrative support, information technology, and management, marketing and human resources.
“We are pleased to once again host the BPA Regional Leadership Conference as the organization continues to help students develop leadership abilities, competency in business occupations and an interest in the American business system,” said Peter W. Karsten, Baker College of Owosso president.
Participating schools include Brighton High School, Byron High School, Capital Area Career Center, Charlotte High School, Corunna High School, DeWitt High School, Durand High School, Fowler High School, Fowlerville High School, Hartland High School, Morrice High School, Owosso High School, Perry High School, Pinckney High School, Sexton High School, St. Johns High School and Williamston High School.
In the event of postponement due to inclement weather, the “snow date” will be Friday, January 15, 2010.
Finalists are eligible for the State Leadership Conference to be held March 18-21 in Grand Rapids, followed by the National Leadership Conference held in Anaheim, Calif., May 5-9.
Business Professionals of America is a national career and technical student organization consisting of 23 state associations and more than 54,000 members. The Michigan BPA has approximately 140 chapters and more than 5,000 members.
