Secondary Teacher Preparation

Secondary Teacher Preparation – English
In this program, you complete the English major and select a minor from the following: biology, chemistry, history, or mathematics. This gives you the knowledge and skills necessary to receive a Michigan provisional secondary teaching certificate, which allows you to teach your major and minor subjects in grades 6 through 12.
Upon graduating and passing the required state tests, you will be eligible to apply for certification.
Secondary Teacher Preparation – Mathematics
In this program, you complete the mathematics major, and select a minor from the following: biology, chemistry, English, or history. This gives you the knowledge and skills necessary to receive a Michigan provisional secondary teaching certificate, which allows you to teach your major and minor subjects in grades 6 through 12.
Upon graduating and passing the required state tests, you will be eligible to apply for certification.
Secondary Teacher Preparation – Social Studies
In this program you complete the social studies major, and select a minor from the following: biology, chemistry, English, or mathematics. This gives you the knowledge and skills necessary to receive a Michigan provisional secondary teaching certificate, which allows you to teach your major and minor subjects in grades 6 through 12.
Upon graduating and passing the required state tests, you will be eligible to apply for certification.
