Want to Earn a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Business? Find Out How a Combination Program Can Help You Get Ahead.

December 15, 2020
A group of students examines notes on a window.

If you dream of becoming an in-demand professional in the world of business, pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is a great place to start. However, in today’s increasingly competitive job market, more and more students are now making the choice to continue their education at the graduate level via a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Getting an MBA

Adding a postgraduate degree to your resume won’t just improve your odds of getting hired. It can also help you command a significantly higher salary and will typically open the door to a lot more career advancement opportunities than you would have with a bachelor’s degree alone. The trade-off is that it generally takes two additional years of schooling to complete an MBA program, which usually entails incurring extra student debt and delaying your entry into the workforce. Not only that, but many MBA programs have strict application requirements and may not even consider you for admission if you don’t have relevant work experience in addition to your bachelor’s degree.

Dual Degree Programs: A More Efficient Way Forward

Luckily, many colleges and universities now offer combination “4+1” programs that make it possible to complete a BBA and an MBA on an accelerated timeline. Such programs are an attractive option for many students because they allow for immersive study directly out of high school and can typically be completed in as little as five years, saving valuable time and money. Even better, many 4+1 business programs give you the option to earn your degrees online, which makes them an excellent choice for students who are interested in distance learning or simply prefer the added flexibility that a virtual classroom provides.

Get on the Fast Track to Earning Your MBA

If you’re interested in pursuing a BBA and an MBA, Baker College can help you reach your goals and launch a successful, rewarding career, well ahead of schedule. We offer six fully accredited dual degree programs focused on today’s fastest-growing business fields including marketing, finance, accounting and human resource management. And all of our programs are designed and taught by leading industry experts, so you can be sure you’re getting an education that’s as up to date and relevant as possible.
