Campus Safety Director

Location: Baker College of Auburn Hills
Compensation: Salary based on education, experience, and existing wage rates paid for similar positions within Baker College Professional Services, Inc. Full benefit package.
Start Date: October 10, 2017

Reports To: Campus President
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/52 weeks per year, some evening and weekend hours may be required.

General Statement of Duties:

Oversees all campus safety operations

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or related field required
  • Three years of experience in law enforcement required
  • Three years of supervisory experience required
  • Administrative experience preferred
  • Demonstrates and maintains proficiency with firearms
  • Must maintain a valid concealed pistol license
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must maintain certification in First Aid and CPR/AED
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to lift and maneuver independently up to 50 lbs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Educate officers/monitors and the campus community on safety operations and concerns
  • Coordinate campus safety efforts
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of incidents
  • Plan and organize departmental operations
  • Develop budget and track expenditures
  • Provide proper equipment for staff to safely and efficiently perform their duties
  • Develop and implement reasonable policies and procedures
  • Schedule employees
  • Report operations to appropriate administrative and board officials 
  • Serve on appropriate committees
  • Direct operations and investigations
  • Evaluate employees
  • Discipline employees
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws
  • Maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement agencies
  • Impose student behavioral discipline
  • Serve as part of the student disciplinary appeal process
  • Ensure documentation of campus safety activities
  • Serve as a resource for members of the campus community
  • Staff non-scheduled, non-budgeted special events
  • Ensure campus safety participation in residence hall orientations (for appropriate campuses.)
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Clery Act and related laws, prepare and submit the Annual Security Report to the Dept. of Ed
  • Maintain Campus Safety records in compliance with College policy and legal requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
