Baker College Professional Services, Inc. seeks to hire an individual to be assigned to the position of LAB ASSISTANT – VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY (PART-TIME) for the benefit of and to be located at Baker College of Jackson
General Statement of Duties:
Assists the Program Director with student clinical training. Provides specific program expertise. Handles duties specific to the program’s affiliated sites.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Applied Science – Veterinary Technology with LVT credential required
Experience with large animals preferred
Three years’ clinical experience required
Familiarity with competency and essential skills requirements of accrediting body (CVTEA)
Familiarity with running in-house chemistry and hematology machines
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to lift and maneuver independently up to 25 lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists students during lab time on campus including Microscopy, clinical laboratory procedures, tissue and blood sample collection, anesthesia monitoring, and animal restraint
Assures lab is maintained and organized
Assist Program Director with student files, surveys and schedules
Presenting classroom instruction if needed in case of emergency
Demonstration of proper techniques associated with veterinary technology including restraint, venipuncture, surgical assist, nomenclature, anesthesia, hematology, diagnostic techniques, radiography, dental prophylaxis, and other duties associated with veterinary technology
Other duties as assigned
