Part-Time Adjunct Faculty (Culinary Institute of Michigan)

Location: Baker of Port Huron
Compensation: Compensation based on education, experience, and existing rates for similar positions within Baker College Professional Services, Inc.
Start Date: Fall Semester 2018 including all faculty training

Reports To: Program Director
Work Schedule: Up to 28 hours per week – Some evenings and weekend hours may occasionally be required.

Baker College Professional Services, Inc. seeks to hire an individual to be assigned to the position of PART-TIME ADJUNCT FACULTY (Culinary Institute of Michigan) for the benefit of and to be located at Baker of Port Huron.

General Statement of Duties:

The primary purpose of the Part-Time Adjunct Faculty is to teach courses in all levels of baking and/or cooking, sanitation and management in a lab or lecture setting.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts Baking and Pastry or Hospitality required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience in foodservice industry required, strong Baking and Pastry background preferred
  • Must meet the requirements for CSC or CWPC certification through the ACF or recognized industry certification body and be willing to pursue ACF Certification if not certified already
  • Must have current Servsafe certification or Canadian equivalency
  • Must be willing to instruct all levels of baking and/or cooking, sanitation and management in a lab or lecture setting
  • Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and the Internet
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • This job requires the ability to lift and maneuver independently up to 25 lbs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to a maximum 12 credit hours per quarter
  • Instruct all levels of baking and/or cooking, sanitation and management in a lab or lecture setting
  • Revise, review and/or develop curriculum, as needed
  • Attend Professional Development training as required
  • Collect and submit required assessment of student learning data
  • Participate in appropriate system committees, subcommittees, projects, and activities
  • Other duties as assigned
