February 14, 2017
FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Baker College’s Flint campus will host Spring into College, Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1050 W. Bristol Road. The free event is designed to help college-bound students and their parents understand college funding and academic program options. It is open to all prospective college students and their parents, whether or not the student has identified Baker College as a college of choice. Reservations are required and must be received no later than Wednesday, March 1.
Deans of the colleges and schools within Baker College will be available for information about specific programs, and attendees will have access to an assessment program that will match them with 10 career choices based on their interests and personality.
Financial services advisors will review the various types of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study options, and identify what needs to be done between now and the start of college.
Current Baker College students will talk about the transition into college, there will also be free refreshments, and prospective students will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including three courses at Baker College of Flint.
“This event is an opportunity for college-bound students to learn about many aspects of attending college from multiple sources in a short time,” said Wen Hemingway, Baker College of Flint president.
Financial services advisors will also be available to assist students who have not completed the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA), which determines eligibility for annual student financial aid. Those planning to complete a FAFSA are encouraged to bring their 2015 U.S. federal tax forms 1040 and W-2, and 2015 untaxed income amounts (e.g., Aid to Dependent Children, Social Security, child support, etc.).
