For those who want to help improve the lives of others, human services can be a very rewarding field. The work of a human services professional centers on helping individuals cope with their everyday lives and developing the skills needed for self-empowerment. This involves working with a broad range of age groups (from infants to seniors) in a variety of settings that may include families, the elderly, substance abuse, residential programs, administration, child welfare, criminal justice, developmental disabilities, education, gerontology and health care. With a bachelor’s degree in human services, you will have the opportunity to serve diverse populations in a variety of non-profit, private and public sectors.
