Veterinary Technician

As a Veterinary Technician, you work under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian to provide care for animals.

In this program, you will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of animal anatomy and physiology.
  • Learn and develop the full range of skills essential to the practice of animal care—nursing, diagnostic laboratory procedures, radiology, surgical procedures, and pharmacology—through classroom work and externships.
  • Prepare to work in different settings, including small animal hospitals, large animal hospitals, research, education, pharmaceuticals, or the military.

Program accreditation is granted through the American Veterinary Medical Association, Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA, CVTEA).

  • Cadillac, Flint, Jackson, Muskegon, and Port Huron are currently accredited.
  • Clinton Township is provisionally accredited.

Please contact the program director of any campus applying for accreditation for information regarding their current status with the AVMA.

As a graduate of our AVMA accredited program, you are eligible to sit for the state and national licensing exams. You must pass both exams to become licensed in the State of Michigan.

Enrollment is limited for this program.
