Why Earn an Accounting Degree?
The accounting BBA and accounting master's emphasize practical application as well as the theoretical aspects of the discipline of accounting to prepare students for professional accounting careers in public, managerial and governmental accounting and/or advanced study within the discipline. Students will gain an understanding of the social, ethical, economic, legal and regulatory environment in which businesses operate and develop the problem-solving, decision-making, communication and leadership skills necessary to compete in a dynamic global marketplace. Students completing this accounting degree are eligible to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in Michigan (see note below under Additional Requirements).

Additional Online Accounting Degree Requirements
Once admitted, you will be allowed to take up to 12 MBA credit hours in your junior and senior years to fulfill the business elective course requirements. The MBA credit hours will apply toward both the BBA in accounting and MBA in accounting requirements. Please contact the Enrollment Department for admission criteria and submit applications to the Center for Graduate Studies upon completion of 60 credits toward your accounting BBA. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required. Assuming a student will choose the MBA in accounting major upon completing a BBA in accounting, he/she will need to complete additional courses to receive an MBA degree. Students will have the option of choosing another major upon admission into the MBA program. If so, the academic plan will change accordingly. Individuals are advised to contact the Michigan State Board of Accountancy Licensing Bureau for further information. Students wishing to become eligible to sit for the examination in other states are advised to check with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (www.nasba.org) for the state in which they intend to practice.
