Transfer Scholarships Available in Michigan
Scholarship awards are one of the best ways to offset college costs. Scholarship dollars come with no strings attached, which means you can use them to cover your tuition without having to worry about paying the money back after graduation.
A lot of people think scholarships are only available for first-time-in-college students, but that’s simply not true! Many colleges and universities offer scholarship opportunities that anyone can take advantage of, even transfer students.
In fact, Baker College has special scholarships worth up to $9,000 per year that are reserved just for transfer students.
Transfer Credits Help You Save
Nobody wants to retake a class they’ve already taken and passed, let alone pay for the experience a second time around.
Transfer scholarships can make a big dent in tuition, but getting credit for the coursework you’ve completed to date can make earning your degree even more affordable.
But how does transferring credits work? Read on to find out.
Transferring Colleges in Michigan.
Completing college credits at one school and transferring them to another is a solid strategy that will allow you to graduate in less time, with significantly less expense.
And luckily, here in Michigan, the whole process is pretty straightforward thanks to the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). The MTA makes it easy for students to transfer general education courses between participating schools like Baker College.
To fulfill the Michigan Transfer Agreement, you will need to successfully complete at least 30 semester hours of college-level credit, all with a grade of 2.0 or higher. These credits must include:
- One course in English composition.
- A second course in English composition OR one course in communication.
- One mathematics course in college algebra, statistics, or quantitative reasoning.
- Two courses in social science, each from a different discipline.
- Two courses in humanities and fine arts, each from a different discipline (excluding studio and performance classes).
- Two courses in natural sciences, each from a different discipline; at least one course must include laboratory experience.
- Any additional coursework necessary to satisfy the 30-credit-hour requirement.
