Owosso, MI — Baker College partners with the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce to host a series of career readiness events designed to connect students, alumni, and community members with regional employers. These initiatives reflect Baker College’s ongoing growth strategy to strengthen community partnerships, expand workforce pathways, and prepare students for long-term success.

Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Baker College will host the Career Fair Essentials Workshop from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Health Science Building, Room 2125, on the Owosso Campus, 1020 S. Washington St., Owosso, MI 48867. This event for Baker Students and Alumni will feature employer partners who will provide insider tips on how to stand out in the hiring process, share career opportunities, and offer first-hand insights into what they seek in candidates.

The following week, the Owosso Career Fair will take place Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Owosso Campus Student/Fitness Center. The first hour of the event (11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) is reserved exclusively for Baker College students and alumni, after which the fair will open to the general public. Attendees will have the chance to network with employers from across the region and explore potential career opportunities, and can register here.

“This event will strengthen the bridge between education and industry, creating opportunities that benefit students, alumni, employers, and the community,” said Jordan Hankwitz, President and CEO of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to collaborate with Baker College to help connect our members and regional employers with the next generation of talent.”

As part of its institutional growth strategy, Baker College continues to prioritize building strong industry partnerships and providing innovative, career-focused programming. By creating direct connections between students, alumni, and employers, Baker is advancing its mission to prepare graduates for meaningful careers and to support workforce needs across Michigan.

“Coming to university events is an amazing way to brand our company to showcase what we offer throughout our nine Michigan locations. These events can be very intimidating to students and alumni, but by attending they can gain more confidence and be more comfortable starting the conversations that could lead to employment.” Bill Stec, Yeo and Yeo, Manager of Recruitment & Campus Relations, and lead workshop facilitator.

Baker College is an independent, private, non-profit institution that grants associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees on six campuses across Michigan and online. Founded in 1911, the institution’s mission is to provide an inclusive, innovative, and transformative educational experience, driven by a student-first philosophy.
