Baker College of Clinton Township held its one-day STEM camp for young girls on August 8th. One of the activities was building a drone! It was a success as you can see from the photo which was taken from the craft. We cannot wait until next year's camp!

Baker College’s Culinary Institute of Michigan (CIM) at Port Huron again showed that its students and faculty members are top competitors. They earned six “Best” awards as well as eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals in the Dorsey Culinary Salon V, March 3-4, in Pontiac. The American Culinary Federation sanctioned the two-day event, which attracted approximately 50 competitors.

Low-cost dental hygiene services are available this spring at Baker College’s Center for Dental Hygiene Education. The care is provided by students in the dental hygiene program under the supervision of licensed dentists and hygienists.

Cyber defense teams from Baker College’s Flint campus won first and third places at the Michigan Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. The first-place team advanced to the Mid-West Regional contest in Chicago, March 17-18, placing fourth in a field of 10.

At the Business Professionals of America (BPA)-Michigan Association 2017 Postsecondary Leadership Conference, held Feb. 11 at Davenport College, Baker College students placed in six competitive categories, including four first-place finishes.

Shannon Meijer, RN, MSN, director of nursing at Baker College’s Owosso campus, has been recognized as a Worldwide Leader in Healthcare by the International Nurses Association (INA) and invited to join the graduate honor society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Baker College’s Flint campus will host Spring into College, Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1050 W. Bristol Road. The free event is designed to help college-bound students and their parents understand college funding and academic program options.

Baker College’s Clinton Township campus will hold its Senior Open House for high school students, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Student Center, 34950 Little Mack Ave., Clinton Township. Reservations are required and due no later than Thursday, Feb. 23.

Late nights and technological talent helped make the first Computer Fix-IT event a success for the student Cyber Defense Club at Baker College’s Flint campus. More than 25 students and faculty members worked the two-day event, providing service to more than 150 community members. Many of the students involved were on the team that won the 2016 Cyber Defense State Championship.
