Baker College announces the launch of a Study Abroad program, set to begin in Spring 2025. This program aligns with Baker College’s student-first philosophy, aiming to provide students with educational programming and activities that open doors to diverse career opportunities.

Being a Mighty Baker Bee is about academic excellence, challenging oneself, and exploring new environments. The Study Abroad program offers students the chance to immerse themselves in cultures and academic environments across 20 countries, including Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa, and the Americas.

Benefits of studying abroad include language acquisition, intercultural competence, career enhancement, and academic improvement, which can contribute to students’ overall development. “I love helping students to grow academically, professionally, and personally. It is exciting to guide them to find appropriate study abroad programs and encourage them to step out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves. The best part is watching them gain confidence and become more open-minded as they dive into new cultures,” said Na Li, Ph.D., Director of Education Abroad & Global Programs and Dean, College of Business – Graduate Programs.

Students can choose from a wide array of subject areas, including but not limited to art, design and media, business, communications, computer science, education, engineering, veterinary science, health sciences, law, nursing, and psychology. Taking courses while immersed in another culture allows them to experience daily life, customs, and traditions firsthand, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives. “What I look forward to is hearing from students when they return. Their stories of new learning experiences, new friendships, and personal growth will be the best rewards for me,” said Li.

To make this enriching experience more accessible, eligible Baker College students may be able to utilize financial aid funding to help with the costs. Additionally, class credits may apply to Baker College programs upon approval.

Baker College is an independent, private, non-profit institution that grants associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees on campuses across Michigan and online. Founded in 1911, the institution’s mission is to provide an inclusive, innovative, and transformative educational experience, driven by a student-first philosophy.
