Ottawa Area Center students visited the Skerbeck Family Carnival on Thursday, Aug 1 and Baker College’s physical therapy assistant students were there to assist.
The Ottawa Area Center is a public school serving the unique needs of students with cognitive impairments who reside in the 11 local school districts that comprise the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District.
Baker College PTA students volunteer at the carnival every year. Students pair with the Ottawa Area program as a community service and as a part of the neuro and pediatrics classes that the PTA students take during the summer semesters.
During the carnival, PTA students pair up with a special needs student to help them on and off rides and with enjoying a day of fun and relaxation.
