Muskegon, MI — Baker College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program partnered with Renew Mobility for the 4th Annual Karaoke Fundraiser and Cornhole Tournament at Pigeon Hill Brewing Company (The Brewer’s Lounge) in Muskegon, MI. The community-driven event supports Renew Mobility, a nonprofit dedicated to improving independence and quality of life by providing free and low-cost mobility equipment to individuals across West Michigan.
The event featured karaoke entertainment, a cornhole tournament hosted by Baker College OTA students and faculty, and an in-kind auction with additional fundraising activities. The tournament followed a round-robin format with a championship bracket powered by Scoreholio, with prizes awarded to the top three teams.
Community partners, including Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy and local sponsors, joined students, healthcare professionals, families, and community members for an afternoon of fun, connection, and purpose. Proceeds from the event directly benefited Renew Mobility’s programs, supporting the acquisition and repair of essential mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, pediatric devices, and bathroom aids. Funds will also help expand community outreach efforts and accessibility initiatives throughout the region.
“This event is a meaningful opportunity for our students to engage directly with the community while putting their skills into action,” said Cassie Kregger, OTA Program Director at Baker College. “Through planning and leading the cornhole tournament, our students gain hands-on experience in activity analysis, adaptation, and inclusive, community-based practice. It not only promotes service learning and leadership, but also reinforces the vital role occupational therapy plays in supporting access, participation, and independence for all.”
Registration for the cornhole tournament is $50 per team with pre-registration and $60 at the door. Individual players may also register. Participants can sign up through Scoreholio and complete payment at the event. Additional ways to support include donations, sponsorships, and contributions to the silent auction. Community members are encouraged to attend, participate, and help make a difference.
