An unknown hacker has accessed the personal data of over 100 million Capitol One credit card applications including the credit scores, payment history, and contact information of the applicants.
Doug Witten, Cyber Defense and Computer Science Program Director at Baker College, says this was low-hanging fruit for a hacker. As a certified ethical hacker, Witten knows all about how to exploit Firewall weaknesses.
"It's an error. It's human error that somebody didn't see this. Somebody did not see that until the deed was actually done. They didn't find out until quite a bit later," Witten said.
