Cadillac, MI — Baker College’s Cadillac campus will serve as the new home for the Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center’s (CTC) Public Safety and Education Careers program beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, expanding opportunities for area high school students to explore careers in public safety and education.
The move provides students with an expanded learning environment that better supports hands-on training while strengthening the long-standing partnership between the CTC and Baker College.
Students enrolled in these programs will continue to receive the same high-quality instruction while benefiting from additional classroom and training space designed to simulate real-world public safety environments. The new location will enhance instruction in emergency medical services, fire service, law enforcement, other public safety and education career pathways.
“This move represents an exciting opportunity for our students,” said Gretchen Spedowske, Assistant Superintendent of Career and Technical Education. “Partnering with Baker College allows us to expand learning experiences while continuing to prepare students for high-demand careers that serve our communities.”
The relocation reflects the CTC’s ongoing commitment to providing students with industry-relevant experiences and modern learning environments. By utilizing the Baker College campus, students will have increased opportunities to develop technical skills, professionalism, teamwork, and leadership in settings that mirror those found in the public safety and education professions.
“Baker College is thrilled to welcome the CTC’s Public Safety program to our Cadillac campus,” said Dr. Randy Hill, Cadillac Campus Director. “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to community partnership and workforce development. By hosting these students on our campus, we are creating a seamless pipeline from high school career training directly into higher education and rewarding local careers.”
