NEC Committee members left to right: Janelle Rafanan, NEC West; Mikayla Shankweiler, NEC East; Elizabeth Hemmes, NEC North; Erin Marie Kelly, NEC Chair and South
It is a truly #BakerProud moment as we congratulate Baker College of Cadillac nursing student, Elizabeth Hemmes, who has been elected a member of the four-person National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Nominating and Elections Committee (NEC). This is an exciting honor for Elizabeth, who has demonstrated superior leadership ability throughout her time at Baker College School of Nursing.
Members of the NEC are elected by the NSNA House of Delegates to seek out candidates for national office and to present a slate of nominees for all elected positions of the association. The committee’s function is a vital one, and its sole responsibility. There are only four members of the Nominating and Elections Committee, including the chairperson.
As part of her duties as NEC member, Elizabeth will participate the NSNA MidYear Conference in Virginia Beach, Va. in November 2022 and the NSNA Annual Convention in Nashville, Tenn. in April 2023.
With Elizabeth’s appointment, Baker College is now the only college in the state of Michigan that has student representatives serving on both the state-level and national-level Student Nurses’ Associations.
“Elizabeth has shown herself, many times over, to be an exemplary student leader. She represents Baker College Nursing with excellence!” said Lori Dewey, DNP, RN CNE, Director of Nursing, BC Cadillac School of Nursing.
In addition to her academics and association responsibilities, Elizabeth also volunteers as a Baker College PROUD Peer Mentor.
Please join us in celebrating Elizabeth’s achievement! For more information on Nursing at Baker College, visit the BC School of Nursing Webpage.
