High school chef competitors participating at the High School SkillsUSA Region Five competition at CIM Muskegon.
For the 10th year in a row, CIM Muskegon hosted the High School SkillsUSA Region Five competition. The categories for the competition were Culinary Arts, Commercial Baking, and Restaurant Service, and participating schools included Petoskey, Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District, Boyne City, and Northwest Education Services.
The competition was fierce, with students showcasing their culinary skills and knowledge of the food service industry. The judges, made up of CIM students and faculty, had their work cut out for them as they evaluated each contestant on their technique, presentation, and taste.
The excitement continued the following week as CIM Port Huron hosted the High School SkillsUSA Region Three competition for the eighth year. The categories were the same, Culinary Arts, Commercial Baking, and Restaurant Service, and participating schools included Bay Arenac Career Center, Genesee Area Skill Center, Huron Tech Center, Lapper Tech Center, Saginaw Career Complex, and Tuscola Tech Center.
For two days, students, instructors, families, and friends from the SkillsUSA Region Three area came together to support their schools and compete in the various categories. The Culinary Arts competitions took place on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, while the Commercial Baking and Restaurant Service competitions were on Friday, February 10th, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM both days.
Once again, CIM students and faculty were on hand to judge the competition, and the winners will go on to represent their schools at the State Championship.
Congratulations go out to all competitors for showcasing their talent and passion for the culinary arts.
