As National Nurses Week is celebrated (May 6-12), Baker College announces new leadership in the College of Health Science. Dr. Maria McCormick, DNP, CPNP, CNE, currently serving as the Dean of the College of Nursing, will expand her role to also serve as the Dean of the College of Health Science. This announcement marks a significant milestone for Baker College, reinforcing its commitment to providing quality education and leadership in the field of health sciences.
“Dr. McCormick’s extensive experience and expertise in the healthcare industry make her well-suited for this expanded role. She is an exceptional leader who creates a culture of innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. Both Colleges will undoubtedly continue to thrive under her leadership,” said Randy Hill, VP for Academic Affairs.
Baker College nursing and health science programs are recognized for their excellence and commitment to student success. With state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated faculty members, and hands-on learning experiences, students in these programs receive comprehensive training that prepares them for the rigors of the healthcare industry. They also have success rates in exams that surpass the national average. We have cultivated strong partnerships with key hospital systems across the state of Michigan, including Corewell Health, U of M Health Sparrow, Trinity Health, Henry Ford Health, and others. These partnerships not only provide valuable clinical experience opportunities, enabling students to excel in their chosen fields and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Plus, the colleges are positioned to help nationwide shortages that impact the healthcare field by equipping students for immediate entry into their careers upon graduation.
Given Dr. McCormick’s wealth of knowledge and background in healthcare, she is well-positioned to lead both colleges to new heights, and students can look forward to enhanced opportunities for academic and professional growth in the healthcare field.
