On June 19th, 2018, Mary Jo Nowicki, Surgical Technology Program Director for Baker College of Clinton Township received the Fellow of the Association of Surgical Technologists (F.A.S.T.) designation from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST). This classification is the highest level of distinction awarded by the AST to its current members.
The F.A.S.T. designation is awarded to recognize those individuals who have upheld the highest professional, ethical and moral standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession, and whose professional activity has been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care.
“Mary Jo has the vision and persistence to lead the program into the future. She has facilitated development sessions, oversees health science advisory boards, and stays involved in committees on and off campus. Mary Jo has been a leader on campus and across the nation and I look forward to the great things I’m sure she will do for healthcare and education,” said Jufuri Ely, Program Director of Radiologic Technology for the Clinton Township campus.
Individuals awarded the F.A.S.T. will be recognized at the Opening Ceremony of the AST Annual National Conference where they will receive the F.A.S.T. certificate and pin. The 2019 conference will be held on May 29 – June 1, 2019 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
