In celebration of Black History Month, Baker College is happy to present a series of alumni profiles throughout the month of February. These individuals are all business and community leaders who have shared with us the impact their Baker College degree has had on their lives. Our first featured alum is Ella Hephzibah.
My name is Ella Hephzibah, and I am a proud Baker College of Jackson Alumni with a passion for business and a determination to succeed. I embarked on an educational journey that has shaped me into the savvy business woman I am today.
In 2013, I graduated from Baker College with an Associate of Business, and soon after, I hungered for more knowledge and growth. This led me to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration, which I successfully obtained in 2015. But my thirst for learning didn’t stop there. I pushed myself further and earned an MBA from the esteemed Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University.
Baker College holds a special place in my heart, it provided a safe and supportive environment for adult learners like myself. Being part of the last cohort at the Jackson campus allowed me to forge lasting lifelong relationships with fellow students, who, like me, were juggling busy lives, families, and other commitments. The night classes offered by Baker College enabled me to manage my responsibilities while pursuing my degrees.
During my time at Baker College, I not only gained invaluable knowledge but also the confidence to advance in my career. This newfound confidence led me to embark on a joint venture with my husband, where we started a successful catering business. The skills and expertise I acquired from my education have been instrumental in the growth and prosperity of our enterprise.
If there’s one piece of advice I would give to all students, it would be to make the most of the time given to personalize your education. Baker College’s dedicated staff genuinely care about the success of each student, and their support and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my journey. Today, as a proud Baker College alumni, I continue to thrive in the business world. With a blend of academic excellence, real-world experience, and a passion for success, I am confident in my abilities to tackle any challenge that comes my way.
