Culinary Institute of Michigan- Port Huron
The Culinary Institute of Michigan- Port Huron has recently received a new American Culinary Federation – Education Foundation (ACFEF) seven-year grant of accreditation with exemplary status for its Culinary Arts program. According to the ACF, Exemplary Programs symbolize the highest educational standards recognized by the foundation. The award is presented to programs that have proven full compliance with all ACFEF accreditation requirements, along with excellent management of the program.
In addition, while on campus, the site visit team evaluated the Food and Beverage Management program with exceptional results. The Culinary Institute of Michigan is now the first Food and Beverage Management program worldwide to be accredited by the ACFEF and will hold this accreditation for six years.
“The ACFEF Accrediting Commission grants accreditation to programs not only in the United States but globally as well. To have the distinction of being the first to achieve accreditation from them for our Food and Beverage Management Program is really quite special,’ said Chef Thomas Recinella, Dean of Culinary. “It speaks directly to our faculty and program directors’ devotion to quality student outcomes and their dedication to excellence. This is an extremely proud moment in the history of the Culinary Institute of Michigan and Baker College. I couldn’t be prouder of our students, faculty and staff.”
The award-winning CIM offers associate degree programs focused on some of the fastest-growing areas of foodservice. CIM students, who can study culinary arts, baking and pastry or food and beverage management, learn from experienced industry professionals and develop technical skills through intensive hands-on training in world-class culinary facilities. Student chefs also gain real-world experience working at Courses, a teaching restaurant, open to the public, and located on each CIM campus.
Join us in congratulating Chef Paula Recinella, CIM- Port Huron Program Director, and the entire CIM team on this outstanding achievement!
