Baker College students and faculty from 10 different campuses successfully completed the Virtual Run 2020.
More than 30 Baker College students and faculty from 10 different campuses successfully completed the recent Virtual Run 2020, accumulating more than 160 miles ran or walked.
Between Feb. 20 and April 24, 2020, participants challenged themselves to run or walk a 5k, 10k or half marathon around their neighborhoods, through a local park or on their home treadmills.
Five brave racers took on the additional personal trial of the Baker Bold Triple Race Challenge to complete all three distances during the racing period. We are pleased to announce that all five completed the task! Congratulations to Cole Kalsbeek, Jeff Wolgast, Leah Rau, Jon Pate and Katelyn Hall.
A special recognition goes to Leah Rau, who also earned the honor of placing as the first-place female finisher in all three races…congratulations Leah!
“The credit goes to the runners for putting in all of the effort,” said Jon Pate, Baker College of Muskegon Coordinator of Student Life and Virtual Run 2020 Organizer. “I truly enjoy hosting this virtual run platform which allows folks from across the System and of every ability to get out and walk or run.”
This year’s Virtual Run event was significantly interrupted by the current global public health crisis, so we commend all of the participants for committing to their race goals in the face of uncertainty and new challenges. We look forward to our Virtual Run 2021 version coming next spring. Mark your calendars!
