Program Highlights

Earn your bachelor's degree in two years with our accelerated nursing program.

You already have a bachelor's degree, so we made it easy for you to get started in nursing with an accelerated BSN. Our accelerated nursing program helps you build upon your existing education so that you can transition to a career in nursing. The curriculum for this track was created to align with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) requirements and will prepare you to be successful in your nursing career. This program is a limited enrollment program.

  • Over the course of the program, you’ll gain a better understanding of what it takes to address individual and community health needs.
  • In addition to the work you do in the classroom, you’ll also have clinical experiences through a community health practicum, a leadership practicum and a nursing synthesis.
  • As a graduate, you’ll be better prepared to obtain your nursing license and move into nursing roles within healthcare environments.
  • This degree is part of our Bridge to Bachelor's program, which means students may transfer up to 60 credits from their existing bachelor's degree, allowing them to complete their BSN in two years.

Why Study Nursing?

Any nurse will tell you it can be a tough and demanding job, but he or she will also tell you it’s one of the most rewarding careers you can choose. This is because on a daily basis, you’re helping people who need it the most. As a nurse, you’ll be both a caregiver and a problem solver, someone who helps heal people in mind, body and spirit. Compassion is critical, but you’ll also need a strong aptitude for science and critical thinking to properly treat patients.

The Baker College School of Nursing (SON) offers a variety of degrees to meet the needs of both the student aspiring to become a registered nurse and those students who are already nurses striving to advance their careers with additional education.

The Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree is offered in two tracks. This degree focuses on the well-rounded practitioner with an emphasis on a liberal arts education as well as a mastery of basic nursing skills. This program is available to those students who wish to obtain credentials to take the NCLEX examination, pre-licensure track and those students who already have a bachelor's degree, wishing to expand their nursing knowledge and put it into practice.

For those nurses ready to prepare themselves for leadership positions (administration track) or educational positions, both in acute and chronic care facilities or academic settings (education track), the Master of Science in nursing (MSN) program allows nurses to build upon the knowledge and skills obtained in their practice.
