Royal Oak, MI – Baker College announces partnerships and initiatives at Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats, & Eats Media Kick-Off held at Taphouse–announcing plans to collaborate with the House of Dank (HOD) and contribute to the community by way of its Culinary Institute of Michigan (CIM).
“Partnering with House of Dank allows us to provide our students with unique opportunities in the rapidly growing cannabis industry. This collaboration is not just about education; it’s about equipping our students with real-world experience and skills that will help them excel in their careers,” said Kelley Suggs, Baker College Public Relations Manager. “We are especially excited to showcase our students’ talents at this year’s festival, highlighting their potential, the innovative nature of our programs, and our commitment to give to our community.”
HOD returns for its second year after making national headlines last year as the first cannabis company to participate in an event like Arts, Beats & Eats. HOD is committed to nurturing talent and providing career pathways in the cannabis industry. As part of this initiative, HOD will hire interns from Baker College’s Cannabis Certificate programs, with the goal of having them in place by the festival’s start.
In addition to the cannabis education program, Baker College will feature three award-winning culinary students from the CIM who will create special food items and a featured beverage for festival guests to enjoy:
- James King will partner with Chef Omar from Imaginate Restaurant
- Ana Granado will collaborate with Chef Luigi from Luigi’s Restaurant
- Seungmin “Steve” Lee will work with the Arts, Beats, & Eats beverage team to create a custom beverage
A portion of the proceeds from each food and beverage item sold will benefit Open Hands Pantry. Last year, this initiative raised nearly $5,000 for the pantry, and Baker College hopes to achieve similar success in 2024.
Presented by Flagstar, organizers also announced new initiatives and entertainment that they expect will make this year’s Labor Day weekend event one to remember—including the reveal of a new festival logo, designed by Kelsey Mendez.
