The Muskegon Area Promise Scholarship is paving the way for local students to pursue higher education, with Baker College of Muskegon playing a vital role in this initiative. The scholarship offers eligible students the opportunity to utilize funds at Baker College of Muskegon for various educational pathways, including certificate programs, up to 72 credit hours equivalent to a two-year associate degree, or the first two years of a bachelor’s degree.
Attending Baker College of Muskegon or the Culinary Institute of Michigan (CIM) allows students to stay close to their families and community but also provides access to a diverse range of programs and degrees. The campus has modern labs for various fields such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, veterinary technology, and radiologic technology. Additionally, students benefit from amenities including a student center, fitness center, academic resource center, study rooms, and residence halls.
“Baker is addressing the needs of Michigan students with action. From our initiatives providing free tuition, scholarships, and free on-campus housing, we are creating opportunities to positively impact our students’ lives and their communities. Being part of this program means students who seek to pursue higher education will have one more barrier removed,” said Daniel Summers II, BC Vice President for Enrollment Management Services.
To qualify for the Muskegon Area Promise Scholarship, students must reside in the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) and graduate from one of the 16 participating schools with a 3.25 GPA or in the top 30% of their graduating class. Beginning in Spring 2023, homeschool graduates must register with the MAISD to earn eligibility for the scholarship.
