  • How big are online classes?

    Our online classes are smaller than on-ground classes, and typically have 12-15 students. 

  • How do online classes work?


    After you enroll, and are accepted to your online program, you sign-up, or "register" for your first courses. Like all Baker Online students, you will begin your online experience with a three-week online class designed to orient you to the Baker Online classroom, and review the expectations and requirements of Baker Online students. When you have completed this course successfully, you can move on to additional online courses.

  • Can I take classes without a high school diploma or GED?

    If you haven't earned a diploma or a GED certificate, you may be able to take classes at Baker College. We will ask you to take placement tests to ensure you have the foundation of knowledge you need to successully complete college-level studies. Please contact the Admissions Office to learn more about our placement testing and admissions policy.

    Note: This does not apply to online students; for Baker Online, a diploma or GED certificate is required.

  • Do I have to take the SAT or the ACT test to be admitted to Baker College?

    As a “right-to-try,” or “open opportunity,” institution, Baker College does not require either ACT or SAT tests as a condition of admission. However, if you do take one or both tests, we encourage you to have the test results sent to Baker College. Talk to the admissions advisor on your campus to learn more about our undergraduate admissions policy.

Online Admissions Calendar

New students to Baker Online and Center for Graduate Studies (CGS) are encouraged to submit their Application for Admission and supporting documents 2-3 weeks prior to an acceptance deadline.

New Baker Online and CGS students should first select the quarter they would like to enroll in and then the session within the quarter to start. Each session has 2 corresponding start dates.

Baker Online admissions offers a free transcript evaluation to assess the number of credits that will transfer and apply toward your degree completion. In addition to traditional transfer credits, we will also review your ACE credit as well as DANTES and CLEP.
What kind of support do you offer to help me afford college (Scholarships & Financial Aid)? Each student’s financial need is unique so we offer free financial aid counseling and work hard to find all the aid available to you. What kind of academic support is available to me as a student? At Baker College we offer our online students the same resources that are available to our campus-based students. These services include: Free Tutoring, Academic Counseling, Research Help, and an Online Library.
What is the structure of the class? (Asynchronous vs. scheduled) How are new students orientated to the online learning environment? Course structure is Asynchronous—your online classes are neither time nor place dependent. You can go online at any time of the day or night to read lectures and participate in discussion. Our Online Orientation Course teaches you the online environment before you begin your actual classes.
Can I review the course list for my program of interest? (Compare major courses vs. general eds) Yes, all of our programs course listings are available online.
