Economic Impact Letter
Dear Friends and Partners of Baker College,
At Baker College, our mission has always been rooted in opportunity, creating pathways to prosperity for our students while strengthening Michigan’s communities and economy. Today, I am proud to point to clear evidence of how we are fulfilling this mission at an extraordinary scale.
An independent analysis of Baker College’s economic value for fiscal year 2023–2024 demonstrates that our institution is not only educating students but also serving as a powerful economic engine for the State of Michigan. During this single fiscal year, Baker College generated a total economic impact of $3.0 billion, supporting 33,798 jobs across the state.
The most significant share of this impact comes from our alumni—graduates whose education at Baker College has translated into higher productivity, stronger businesses, and sustained economic growth. Equally important is the return on investment Baker College delivers to those we serve. For our students, the results are truly life-changing.
A total student investment of $66.8 million yields $250.7 million in lifetime earnings benefits, an impressive 18.3% annual rate of return. Over the course of a career, the average Baker College bachelor’s degree graduate can expect to earn more than $1.1 million in additional individual lifetime income compared to a high school graduate, an outcome that transforms families, communities, and futures.
Michigan communities also see substantial returns. Public investment in Baker College produces $93.5 million in total benefits, including increased tax revenues and public-sector savings.
From a broader societal perspective, the impact is even more striking: a $127.9 million investment generates $1.0 billion in total benefits, yielding a remarkable 8.1-to-1 return.
These benefits include increased student and business income, economic activity generated by college operations, and meaningful social savings.
These results affirm what we at Baker College have long believed: investing in education is one of the most effective ways to build a resilient workforce, strengthen communities, and secure Michigan’s economic future. We are deeply grateful to our students, alums, faculty, staff, partners, and supporters who make this impact possible.
Together, we are not only educating students but also shaping Michigan’s future.
With pride and gratitude,

Dr. Jacqui Spicer
President and CEO
