OWOSSO, MI – Baker College announces the launch of “Return to the Hive,” a groundbreaking program designed to empower former students to complete their degrees without the burden of past institutional debt. This innovative initiative offers a clear pathway back to academic success, providing not only financial relief and support but also personalized support every step of the way.
Many students face unexpected challenges that lead them to pause their education. Baker College understands these hurdles and is stepping forward with a solution that prioritizes student success. The “Return to the Hive” program offers up to 100% forgiveness of institutional debt owed directly to Baker College, along with a personalized plan to guide students toward graduation and a “Back To Baker” scholarship to help cover the costs of additional classes for those who qualify..
“The ‘Return to the Hive’ program is more than just debt forgiveness; it’s an invitation back to a supportive community that champions the aspirations of our students,” said Dr. Jacqui Spicer, President of Baker College. “We know that life can throw unexpected curveballs, and for many, that meant putting their education on hold. This program is our commitment to helping them finish what they started, providing the resources and encouragement they need to succeed.”
A Clear Path Back to Your Degree
To be eligible for the “Return to the Hive” program, former students must have last attended Baker College two or more years ago (excluding students from St. Francis Law) and be returning to pursue a degree or certificate.
For the program, students will work hand-in-hand with dedicated academic and financial aid advisors to develop a customized “Return to the Hive” Student Success Plan. This plan is designed to provide comprehensive guidance and support, ensuring a smooth and successful journey to graduation.
Financial Freedom to Focus on Your Future
The debt forgiveness component of “Return to the Hive” is structured to provide immediate relief and continued motivation:
- 50% of eligible institutional debt is forgiven after the successful completion of the first semester.
- The remaining 50% of eligible debt is forgiven after the successful completion of the second semester.
- For students who complete their degree in a single semester, 100% of their institutional debt will be forgiven upon graduation.
- “Back To Baker” scholarships are also available
This phased forgiveness model allows students to experience the benefits of the program quickly while working toward their academic goals. In addition to debt forgiveness, scholarships, such as the “Back To Baker” Scholarship will help students manage the costs of their ongoing coursework for those who qualify for scholarship opportunities.
Baker College is also waiving the application fee for all returning students, making the process of re-enrollment even more accessible.
